Weezer’s most recent project, SZNZ, changed how the band made their music. The album comprises four separate but-related EPs: SZNZ: Spring, SZNZ: Summer, SZNZ: Autumn, and SZNZ: Winter. Each album has its own “emotion” and its own primary musical genre. The aforementioned emotions are optimism, anger, anxiety, and sadness, respectively. Using emotion to guide each EP was inspired very much by Antonio Vivaldi’s four-part composition The Four Seasons.
Weezer started the project with Spring back on March 20, 2022, the spring equinox, and released the next three installments, Summer, Autumn, and Winter on the subsequent solstices of the year. The last installment was released on December 21, 2022. Hopefully, we hear tons of the new stuff on this upcoming tour.
Last time Weezer was here was for their Hella Mega Tour, featuring not only themselves, but other hard-hitters like Green Day and Fall Out Boy. Less support this time around, but plenty more material to perform. Maybe Rivers Cuomo will bring back the look he had on last time around. The mullet, mustache, and leather jacket really suited him. The whole show ran for five and a half hours, talk about bang for your buck!
We can’t wait to see what Weezer has for us this time around. I love this band! Check out some photos from the last time Weezer played Philly.
