That Time Casey Boy Arm Wrestled with John Cena
John Cena celebrates his 47th birthday today (4/23). Over the course of his long and storied career in pro wrestling, one of his greatest matches took place right here in Philadelphia on WMMR. Let’s set the scene:
From Westbury, Massachusetts, weighing in at 240 pounds, John Cena enters the ring – er, the Preston and Steve Studio – back in March of 2012. Even then, he had beef with the Rock, which was all leading up to a main event match at WrestleMania XXVIII. John explains: “I just don’t like him. When you’ve got two franchise players on the same team, you know, I often reference it to Kobe and Shaq when they were in LA, two really good players, all-stars, but they just didn’t get along.”

He continues: “(The Rock’s) got his own way on thinking, I’ve got my own way of thinking. I know that he’s probably gonna go on and do what he’s gonna do; I’m gonna be a WWE superstar for life. So I just wanna make sure the WWE is held down when he leaves on April 2nd, because I’m gonna whoop his ass on April 1st (at WrestleMania).”
But the rock was the least of John Cena’s worries that day. Enter his opponent, Casey Boy. Casey had been challenging every athlete who visited the Preston and Steve studios to an arm wrestling contest. This was different, though. This was a WWE superstar. Have you seen the size of this guy’s arms?! (Trick question, you can’t see him.)
It was an intimidating prospect, but Casey had to fight the good fight. Watch below around the 1:37 mark as a battle for the ages unfolds. We even got “in-event commentary” from Cena.

As Cena himself said, “it’s the great arm wrestling match in the history of arm wrestling.” The champ is here!
