WrestleMania Weekend: Hang with Brent Porche

Brent Porche here – For the first time in over 25 years, WrestleMania is coming back to the City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection! The most colossal WrestleMania EVER will invade South Philadelphia for two incredible nights of action on April 6th and 7th.

On each of those nights, I’ll be hosting Mania pre-parties at Live Casino and Hotel, just a short walk away from the Linc where the event is taking place. Live Casino is located at 900 Packer Avenue, Philadelphia, PA.

Join me at the casino’s center bar on both nights. On Saturday April 6th, I’ll be there from 6pm to 8pm, along with a couple of former WWE Superstars, CJ Perry (FKA Lana) and Danielle Moinet (FKA Summer Rae). On Sunday April 7th, hang with me and the MMaRmy from 3pm to 5pm, and former WWE, TNA, and ECW Heavyweight champion Rob Van Dam will be there too.

Per Live Casino’s website: “These Wrestling Watch Parties will feature photo ops, meet & greets, autographs, face painting, and Celsius sampling affording our fans the opportunities to mix and mingle with these former Superstars!” Plus, on Sunday, you’ll have “a chance to play wrestling trivia for a chance to win exciting prizes!”

What makes this year’s WrestleMania so unique?

This year’s WrestleMania is XL for many reasons: it’s WWE’s 40th (XL in Roman Numerals) “Showcase of the Immortals,” and it is also their biggest and most superstar-studded event card in history!

The eyes of the professional wrestling world will be on Philadelphia for an entire week of events, which include Friday Night Smackdown Live which airs on FOX, the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony which airs on Peacock, NxT Stand & Deliver, Monday Night Raw which airs Live on the USA Network, and the massive WWE World at WrestleMania event that runs April 4^th thru 8^th at the PA Convention Center.

Being a lifelong wrestling fanatic myself, it is beyond exciting to have “The Grandest Stage of Them All” right here in our very own backyard.

• WrestleMania almost wasn’t WrestleMania

  Legendary WWE Hall of Fame ring announcer Howard Finkel is credited with coining the name “WrestleMania,” but before landing on that perfect name, Vince McMahon wanted to call his annual showcase “The Colossal Tussle.”

• WrestleMania 35 was the first WrestleMania to be headlined by women.

  It took over three decades for women to headline “The Showcase of Immortals,” but it finally happened in WrestleMania 35 when Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey faced off in a Winner Takes All Triple Threat match for the WWE Raw Women's Championship and the WWE SmackDown Women's Championship.

• Run-DMC provided a WrestleMania first.

  The iconic rap group was the first act to ever perform at WrestleMania outside of the singing of the National Anthem and “America the Beautiful” when they performed “WrestleMania Rap” at WrestleMania 5. Many other acts have performed at WrestleMania since including Flo Rida, Diddy and Motorhead.
• WrestleMania 2 is the only WrestleMania to happen on a weekday.

  Up until this year, which sees WrestleMania 36 split into a two-night event taking place on Saturday, April 4 and Sunday, April 5, WrestleMania 2 was the only WrestleMania to not take place on a Sunday. Instead, it took place on Monday, April 7, 1986.

• WrestleMania 28 holds the record for most PPV buys.

  The WrestleMania that billed the "once in a lifetime" match between The Rock and John Cena saw 1,217,000 PPV buys, which is the most PPV buys for a single WrestleMania ever. Of course, that “once in a lifetime” tag wasn’t exactly true, and The Rock vs. John Cena would headline WrestleMania 29.

• “Macho Man” Randy Savage has the record for most WrestleMania matches in a single night.

  OH, YEAH! WrestleMania 4 featured a 14-man tournament for the WWF World Heavyweight Championship. Savage would end up winning the title defeating Butch Reed, Greg Valentine, One Man Gang, and “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase.
• Longest match in WrestleMania history.

  The legendary iron man match between Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania XII still holds the record for longest WrestleMania match clocking in at one hour, one minute and 52 seconds.

• Shortest match in WrestleMania history.

  The shortest WrestleMania match happened in recent history at WrestleMania 32 when The Rock squashed Erick Rowan in just six seconds.

  Triple H may be one of the most prolific wrestlers in WWE history, but he also has the notorious honor of having the most losses at WrestleMania with 13. Yikes!
• Total attendance at WrestleMania.

  WrestleMania 36 is the first WrestleMania with no fans in attendance due to the Coronavirus pandemic, but up until this year, a combined 1,749,276 fans have attended WrestleManias 1-35.
