Motley Crue Want to Bring Back This Deep Cut
Mötley Crüe just released the first song in their post-Mick Mars era, with John 5 now on guitar. You can listen to “Dogs of War” below. Radio Sara from WMMR Philadelphia caught up with Vince Neil and Tommy Lee about the new track, and they also discussed some deep cuts from the vintage Crüe catalog.
On Record Store Day earlier this month, the band re-released their 1999 compilation Supersonic and Demonic Relics. This double LP of rare tracks was pressed to picture disc vinyl for the first time ever this year, and it was limited to 2,500 copies. Sara pulled her copy out of the vinyl library in the interview, and it got quite a reaction from Vince and Tommy.
When asked about deep cuts that they’d like to bring back into the Mötley Crüe setlist for their live shows, Tommy Lee referenced the lead track on that Supersonic tracklist: “Teaser.”
“Teaser was cool!” he said. “I forgot about that!”
Vince added, “Me too. I’d love to play that again!”
Tommy added: “See, we’ve been doing this for a while, long enough to where we don’t even f***ing remember what we did.”
“Teaser” is a song that was originally released by guitarist Tommy Bolin in 1975. Mötley Crüe covered it as part of the Stairway to Heaven/Highway to Hell compilation album that came out in 1989 to support the Make a Difference Foundation. It never made it onto any of their LPs, but was included in the Supersonic collection about a decade later. Listen to their version of it here.
Mötley Crüe are hitting the road in a couple weeks, starting with two dates in Atlantic City. They’ll be at the Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena on Friday May 3rd and Saturday May 4th. In the interview, Vince confirmed that at the first gig, fans will be treated to the live debut of the new song “Dogs of War,” telling us, “Oh yeah, it’s there!”
Our “full time vampire” Jacky Bam Bam will host our VIP pre-party and meet-and-greet with the band on the second night. Get tickets in info on MMR’s Official Concert Calendar.
Watch the interview in its entirety below, where Vince and Tommy discuss the addition of John 5 to the band, their thoughts on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and at the end of the conversation, they comment on the most controversial topic of all…

AC/DC: Their Last Show in Philadelphia at the Big Joint
Let there be rock! Since this week marks the birthday of Angus Young, we thought we’d look back at the last time Philadelphia hosted AC/DC at the Big Joint.
The band wrapped up a tour at the Wells Fargo Center on September 20th, 2016. For several years, this was potentially their last show ever, since after the gig they went away for a little while and then a pandemic put a hard stop to touring for a moment. This show also occurred before longtime frontman Brian Johnson returned to the band, so Axl Rose of Guns N’ Roses was singing lead (yep, remember AXL/DC?).
Since that night in South Philly, AC/DC have only performed live one other time, at the Power Trip festival in California last year. They have an extensive European tour planned for this summer, stretching from May to August with our friends in The Pretty Reckless as support.
As for the birthday boy: Angus Young turned 69 years old this past Sunday (3/31) and he’s still going strong. Here’s hoping that AC/DC returns to the City of Brotherly Love and Sister Affection sooner rather than later! Keep an eye on the official MMR Concert Calendar for a potential date.
In the meantime, we’re looking back at the last time Angus Young and the gang were here. What was even cooler about their show in Philly that night in 2016 is that WMMR gave one lucky listener a chance to meet Angus, and that fan, Mike, showed up in full uniform, as you can see below!
