Sing Us Home in Manayunk: Bands, Schedule and More
Dave Hause is returning to his roots for round two of Sing Us Home. The festival is back in Manayunk for a full weekend of indie, punk and alt-country music, with most of the lineup featuring Philly natives.
Listen to Preston & Steve at 9am on Thursday May 2nd when the Hause brothers will be in studio to tell us all about what’s happening at Venice Island this weekend, and how the festival came to be.
What is Sing Us Home?
Sing Us Home is a festival that was launched last year by Dave Hause, a Roxborough native who began his journey in the punk/hardcore scene (he spent time in Paint It Black in the early 2000s, and soon after founded The Loved Ones). He’s since collaborated with other singer-songwriters of the genre, including Brian Fallon of the Gaslight Anthem, Chuck Ragan of Hot Water Music, members of the E Street Band, and his own brother Tim Hause. That energy is now being channeled into his solo releases; his latest album Drive It Like It’s Stolen trades the loud, singalong choruses he’s known for and molds them into introspective Americana anthems that hit just as hard.
Hause lives in Santa Barbara now, but he’ll always consider Philadelphia home. With the Sing Us Home festival, he wants to create a weekend of camaraderie for like-minded folks. Hause says in a press release: “Once again, we get to bring my favorite bands, songwriters, food, and friends to my old neighborhood and share it with all of you… we are going to mix local Philadelphia food, working-class wit, California vibes, acoustic music, punk rock, the Mummers, craft beer, tattoos, art, storytelling and good old-fashioned fun to present a rock and roll weekend that WE would want to attend.”
On the final day of the fest (5/5) The Loved Ones will reunite for a set, playing live together for the first time since 2016.
