Nikki Sixx on ‘The Dirt’: “It was really important for us not to whitewash anything over.”
Motley Crue fans who have read the band’s infamous memoir The Dirt might be wondering what its film adaptation will include, given that the book was kind of x-rated.
In a new interview with Classic Rock magazine, Nikki Sixx put doubts to rest by saying, “It was really important for us not to whitewash anything over.”
He continued, “We know that there were scenes in NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton that were deleted because they just didn’t want to be portrayed that way – and I don’t know if they sugar-coated anything in the Queen movie.”
The Straight Outta Compton scene in question has to do with Dr. Dre’s assault of hip-hop journalist Denise Barnes. As for sugar-coating Bohemian Rhapsody, there’s been plenty reported on that.
Just from the trailer alone, some of the band’s most dramatic moments will likely be covered, from Sixx’s infamous “Kickstart My Heart” overdose, to Mick Mars’ ankylosing spondylitis diagnosis to Vince Neil’s 1984 car crash resulting in the death of Hanoi Rocks drummer Nicholas “Razzle” Dingley and the death of his daughter, Skylar, in 1995.
Whether or not the classic story of Ozzy Osbourne snorting a line of ants makes it into the movie is something fans will just have to wait and see when The Dirt is released on Netflix on March 22.
