Friends Keep Pact Made in 1992, Split $22million Lottery Winnings
Tom Cook and Joseph Feeney made a pact in 1992: buy a lottery ticket every week and split any winnings.
Twenty eight years later one of them hit big. Really big. Cook hit the Powerball with a ticket he bought in Menomonie, Wisconsin. The pot was up to $22 million. After confirming the numbers with his wife, Cook’s immediately called his betting buddy.
Feeney, an avid fisherman exclaimed “are you jerking my bobber?” upon receiving the news.

According to the NY Daily News, they chose the cash option of approximately $16.7 million leaving them with about $5.7 million each after taxes.
The first thing Cook bought with his winnings? Two more tickets. “I won the Powerball and right away bought them. I mean, what can I lose?”
