Meet Chester County’s Own New Damage
Meet Chester County‘s own New Damage, MMR’s Local Shots artist of the month for March 2025.
New Damage
New Damage is a hard rock band hailing from Chester County, PA. And while the label of “hard rock” is a decent overarching descriptor, it often falls short of conveying the various genre-blending nuances the band finds themselves exploring.
Formed in 2021, members Nick Yelovich (guitar, lead vocals), Raif Groves (lead guitar), Ethan Creveling (bass, vocals), and Adam Costello (drums, vocals) don’t have a history of shying away from their diverse array of influences, incorporating elements of grunge, pop, alternative, funk, and metal on their debut self-titled album released in 2023.
“We’re just trying to make the music we want to hear, we don’t really think about if a song isn’t metal enough or not accessible enough. Just if it fits the vibe we want now for whatever project we’re on” voices frontman Nick Yelovich. “The first album was definitely a real-time experiment in finding the direction we wanted to take musically. People can expect things to get heavier from here.” New Damage cites Alice in Chains, Pantera, Rage Against the Machine, Gojira, and Mastodon among their most prominent influences.
The band most recently released two singles, “It Gets Uglier” (Dec 2024) and “PBURG STOMP” (Feb 2025), with plans for another single, a concept EP, and full-length LP in the works. The most recent release “PBURG STOMP” certainly foreshadows the more hardcore and metalcore direction the band plans to move towards in upcoming projects.
