WMMR is a Crystal Radio Award Finalist
The National Association of Broadcasters bestows ten finalists each year with the Crystal Radio Award, which honors “excellence in year-round community service” by radio stations across the country.
93.3 WMMR in Philadelphia has once again been nominated for this prestigious award. Our station is humbled and grateful to the NAB, and of course, grateful to our listeners who are vital to the success of many charity events that our team executes year after year. Camp Out For Hunger, I Bleed for Preston & Steve, the ACS Bike-a-Thon, Toys for Tots, LLS’ Big Climb and more would not be possible without the “Good Citizens” of Philly and the tri-state area.
WMMR PD, ‘Man About Town’ Bill Weston, explains: “A Crystal nomination from the NAB is an honor in itself. It represents being at the top of all US radio stations in commitment to community service. From the part-time crew member who hung a banner at the Blood Drive, to riding a bicycle 75 miles, to camping out all week collecting food – it’s every individual …from those with the smallest part in execution to those who dedicate months and months in planning and promoting these acts of good, for the place where we live… this recognition is all yours.”
It’s true: it takes a (fine) village (indeed) to carry out all of these events throughout the year. Your support is what makes them successful. To our extended WMMR family, thank you for all of your time, effort, and donations.
We’ll find out who the finalists are at the NAB Crystal Radio Awards in Las Vegas next month.
