Pierre Robert Extends His Contract with WMMR
Great day in the morning! Pierre Robert will host middays for several more years at 93.3 WMMR in Philadelphia, where he’s been on air for over four decades.
The station’s parent company, Beasley Media Group, announced that the legendary radio host inked a multi-year contract extension that will allow him to continue his on air journey in the City of Brotherly Love. Pierre joined WMMR in 1981 and has since hosted countless artist interviews, live concerts, and charity events across the Greater Philadelphia area.
A press release states: “His daily features, including the Workforce Blocks, the Vinyl Cut, exclusive artist interviews, live in-studio performances and “Daily Planner” history lessons are fully enjoyed by a large and dedicated audience. Pierre’s encyclopedic music knowledge adds new insight to a classic rock track as well as context to a baby band’s latest release. His interviews are masterful. Artists trust him and provide him with unheard of access – from the Struts to the Stones, Bono and Robert Plant, to Lzzy Hale, Joan Jett, Green Day and most recently even the legendary Dolly Parton!”
Bill Weston, who just retired his position as the longtime program director of WMMR, commented: “Continuing Pierre’s relationship with the Philadelphia radio audience, into 2024 and years beyond… is a gift for all this Christmas season and beyond. That fans and co-workers get to continue their friendship with the man who shares his beautiful voice and spirit on the radio every day- is the best present ever!” (Editor’s note: the new PD of WMMR is Chuck Damico, who took over on January 1st, 2024.)
The Good Citizen himself says: “This is a very cool moment for me knowing I’ll be continuing this radio adventure on ‘MMR. Many thanks to (Market Manager) Joe Bell, Bill Weston, and my amazing agent, Steve Mountain from Cornerstone Management for bringing this all together. To paraphrase the Grateful Dead: What a long, strange, and wonderful trip it’s been… and still is!”
