Rain Songs For Local Farmers In The Workforce Blocks
Each weekday at high noon the ring of the bell on 93.3 WMMR indicates the start of the Workforce Blocks with Pierre Robert. That much is a guarantee. What changes is what musical direction you the listener wants.
You can write in asking for a specific band to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and concerts. You may write in just to hear something just because which still counts. In the case of November 12th, a very special thematic block of rain songs was requested for a very important reason.
Rain Songs To Beat The Drought
A letter had arrived from Jeff Tober who is the farm manager from Rancocas Creek Farm over in Southampton New Jersey. Jeff wrote in for a block of songs involving some rain to bring some good cosmic energy to bring some actual rain to our area.
It is certainly need as our area as been experiencing a record breaking drought. According to the National Weather service parts of our area have gone up to 42 consecutive days without rain breaking records well over a century ago.
While we have no physical power to change the weather ourselves, we do have the power to help those in need even through some difficulties. Despite the hard times, Jeff wrote about the need to continue to donate food to those who are less fortunate and food insecure. He included a photo of some carrots that is part of a weekly donation to Cooper hospital in Camden. Jeff also discussed his plans to donate during Campout For Hunger which is incredibly cool.
We thank Jeff for taking the time to write and bring awareness and a touch of positivity to all the incredible farmers in our MMR family. Here are all the rain songs that were celebrated to help bring in some precipitation. If there is a Workforce Block you would like Pierre to play, simply email him at [email protected] so he can play your block on WMMR!
