Shinedown’s Eric Bass Goes Solo with ‘I Had A Name’ [Interview]
Eric Bass of Shinedown is going solo. In a conversation with Brent Porche of 93.3 WMMR in Philadelphia, the bassist and producer revealed that his next project I Had A Name will be unleashed on February 28th, 2025.
The album is deeply personal endeavor that Bass has been working on under the radar for years. “It’s something that started during our first European tour,” he tells us, explaining how the initial ideas began to take shape during a rollercoaster touring schedule.
Bass described the project as a “COVID baby,” saying that the unexpected downtime during the pandemic allowed him to focus on piecing all of his ideas together and completing his album. He oversaw every aspect of the performance, from vocals to instrumentation and right down to the mixing. The first single from it is “Mind Control” and you can watch the video below.

Shinedown have always delivered a three-dimensional experience, and Bass will continue this immersive storytelling for I Had A Name. In this new creative chapter, fans can expect a blend of music and visual art; Bass is excited to unveil a graphic novel that serves as a companion to the album and brings the stories behind the songs to life.
