10 Years Talks Recording An Album With Foo Fighters Producer
Out today (October 27) is “(How To Live) As Ghosts,” the new album from Tennessee hard rockers 10 Years.
The set follows 2015’s “From Birth To Burial” and marks the return of both of the band’s original guitarists — Brian Vodinh, who left after that last album, and Matt Wantland, who quit the band during 2009. It also marks the group’s first collaboration with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Alice In Chains, Rush, etc.), which Vodinh tells us made a considerable difference in the band’s sound:
“It was the most fun that we’ve had writing a record and probably the easiest process, too… And then, of course, we linked up with Nick Raskulinecz pretty early on and we were sending him demos and everything, and I can tell you he had a vision for this album from day one. He knew that he wanted it to be a bit more lean in production. He wanted it to be a more deliberate and more vulnerable 10 Years record. He wanted to strip away a lot fo the 10 Years layering that we do… We’re used to doing things a certain way…but we kept having to tell ourselves that if Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters could trust Nick for multiple records, and if Alice In Chains…these huge, legendary, iconic artists trust him so much with their music, then who are we not to trust him?”
“(How To Live) As Ghosts” is also 10 Years’ first album without co-founder Ryan “Tater” Johnson and was preceded by the single “Novocaine.”
10 Years is currently on the road, mixing headline shows with support slots with Chevelle and co-headlining dates with RED.
