Disturbed’s “The Sound Of Silence” Cover Used In New NASA Video
We can now accurately say that the response to Disturbed‘s cover of Simon & Garfunkel‘s “The Sound Of Silence” has gone out of this world.
NASA has used the fresh version of the 60s classic as the soundtrack for a new video filmed from Expedition 53 of the International Space Station, playing it alongside a series of various breathtaking images of Earth. It’s part of a run that saw the 2015 track top the charts, get nominated for a Grammy Award and be certified double-platinum, and guitarist Dan Donegan tells us the reception has been gratifying:
“I’m not surprised because I feel that we did such a great version of it. I am surprised that the response came so quickly on it. I thought because it is such a departure for us that the fans might need a little bit more time to digest it because it’s gonna catch everybody off guard. But it just goes to show that a good version of a song, fans are gonna recognize that and I’m glad that they connect with it…I was pleasantly surprised that they reacted so quickly on it, and almost immediately when the song, when the album came out and it goes up on YouTube and people were commenting and just the positive feedback instantly was definitely pretty overwhelming and surprising on that end of things.”
Disturbed is currently taking time off after the campaign for 2015’s “Immortalized” album. The group has promised an acoustic EP will be next but has not announced any details and does not plan to tour again until 2019.
