Rob Zombie & Marilyn Manson’s Cover of “Helter Skelter” is Awesome
Who knew just how much we needed this cover until it actually happened?
Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson just kicked off their “Twins of Evil: The Second Coming” tour last night (July 11) in Clarkston, Mich., but they’ve also joined forces on the blistering cover of The Beatles’ “Helter Skelter.”
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Zombie said of the cover, “We had been talking about doing something together for these shows — that he should come onstage during my set and we’d do a song. But we couldn’t think of what song. After we talked, later that night I was home and I just thought, The obvious song is “Helter Skelter”… It’s so obvious that neither one of us thought of it! And then I figured, well, rather than us just doing it onstage, why don’t we take it one step further and record it and put a new spin on it?”
True to his word, Zombie was joined by Manson last night for the cover, which was appropriately accompanied by various images of Charles Manson. (Honestly, if there wasn’t a Charles Manson component to the performance, it would’ve somehow felt weird.)
