Rob Clancy – Jaxon’s Local Shots Artist of the Month
Rob Clancy is an award-winning singer, songwriter and musician from Philadelphia, PA. After a tenure of playing guitar and drums in various bands throughout the Philly area, Clancy decided to step out on his own and start a new band as singer/songwriter and frontman. In 2013 he formed the band Cold Roses, which would expand into a six piece rock and roll outfit featuring a horn section. The band would go on to become a staple in the Philly music scene, receiving airplay from radio stations like 93.3 WMMR, touring the country and playing festivals alongside major acts like Slash, Stone Temple Pilots, Modest Mouse and Bob Dylan.
Cold Roses issued two independent records: The Georgia Fugue EP and No Silence In The City and one label release, Escape To Anywhere, that the group recorded in Los Angeles. The band decided to take a hiatus after years of touring and recording, and Clancy embarked on a thirty-city solo acoustic tour opening for Company of Thieves in May 2018.
Clancy continues to write and perform as a solo act, and recently released the debut solo EP Hollywood Nightmare – written, produced, performed and recorded by Clancy in his home studio, The Mojo Dojo. The six-song release displays a broad palette of musical influences, encompassing elements of blues, rock and roll, folk, electro, hip hop, punk and r&b. Clancy says: “It was an album of many firsts, but I think the most important thing for me was that it was truly the first time I ever experienced unlimited freedom to create music.”
