Listen to Pierre & Preston’s Entire Neil Peart Tribute
One week ago today, our hearts hung heavy when the news of Neil Peart‘s passing broke. Pierre Robert was in the Poconos finishing up the Day Off On The Slopes broadcast, Preston Elliot was at home playing along to RUSH albums on his drum kit when both received a call from the radio station. “What do you guys think about taking over the airwaves on Sunday afternoon to pay tribute to The Professor?” The proposition came from WMMR Assistant Program Director, Chuck Damico who also happens to be a drummer, level 8 Rush fan and one of the millions of people devastated by the news.
Both DJs answered yes without hesitation. They immediately began digging up old interviews and and listening to drum solos to prepare for what would become 3 1/2 hours of sharing stories, clips and celebrating the man who changed everyone’s lives. (for the record, it was only supposed to a 2 hour takeover. That’s the Spirit of Radio!)
