‘Avoiding the Winter Blues’ New Activity List from Kathy Romano
The winter blues are a real thing and super easy to catch. That’s why Kathy Romano created this list of ways to stay busy and, most importantly, stay safe. Introducing the Avoiding the Winter Blues Activity List full of local businesses hosting experiences designed to keep you smiling while we wait for Spring.
Conquering Cuisine is offering cooking demonstrations that allow you to participate from the comfort of your own home. Participants gain a full understanding of each dish as the chef showcases ingredients, techniques, and traditions from around the world. Participants will also gain a better understanding of how particular wines can enhance the flavors in different foods. They have a number of classes throughout Jan and Feb. Prior to class, participants will pick up their ready to heat and serve meal package and purchase select bottles of wine at their Doylestown location. Then participants join virtually via Zoom to enjoy the featured menu, drink, learn and relax. Link
Virtual Beer and Bonsai by Slip Pot Bonsai is taking place this Friday, January 29th. Sign ups close at noon on Friday. Participants pick up their beer and supplies for the workshop at Town Tap by Conshohocken Brewing Co in Havertown then login to the Zoom at 6pm to put together & style and learn to care for your bonsai tree. Slip Pot Bonsai is also offering a kids virtual workshop with the supplies delivered anywhere within 15 miles of Drexel Hill, PA! Workshop participants receive a healthy, two-year-old, pre-bonsai tree, ceramic pot, soil, wire, clippers, and instruction to style and care for your very own bonsai tree. It’s a one hour Zoom at the scheduled time of your choice! Link

The Home Made Bakers Club is a monthly baking subscription. Each box includes: 1) Pre-measured non-perishable ingredients. 2) a recipe booklet 3) ingredient card with measurements to remake each dessert. 4) items including parchment paper, toothpicks, canned & jarred ingredients needed for the dessert. The hour long, hands on event comes with a box filled with charcuterie, cheese and accompaniments along with a shopping list for future creations. Choc.OH.lat, a small local business, is hosting a live truffle making & wine pairing event at Morning Glori Farmette in Evesham Township, NJ. A Philadelphia chocolatier will be instructing guests on how to make their own truffles and pair the confectionaries with wines from White Horse Winery in New Jersey. In addition, they will be teaching the class how to infuse chocolate covered strawberries. This is a social distanced event outside on a covered patio with heaters. and a great way to celebrate Valentine’s Day with friends or that special someone. Link
