Volbeat’s Michael Poulsen Having Throat Operation in October
Volbeat singer Michael Poulsen shared in a new interview he’s having a throat operation in October.
Poulsen told Metalradio.gr that the recovery will require Volbeat to take a break from the road. However, once Poulsen has recovered by 2024, things will pick back up, and the Danish band will begin work on a new album.
“I will use time next year also to write a new Volbeat album and record the Volbeat album,” said Poulsen. “So ’25 we will go out and promote Volbeat, but ’24 I will be promoting [my side project] Asinhell.”
Volbeat went through a significant change this year. In June, longtime guitarist Rob Caggiano parted ways with the band after being a member since 2013. Arcane Order guitarist Flemming C. Lung filled in for Coggiano on the band’s 2023 tour dates.
Volbeat shared the news in a statement saying, in part, “During our time together, we’ve traveled the world sharing great experiences and released four albums that we are immensely proud of, and we wouldn’t change a moment of it. We wish our brother Rob all the best with everything he does in the future (we know it’s going to be great)!”
The split seemed to be civil with Caggiano sharing via Instagram, “I also want to wishMichael, Jon, Kaspar, (Anders too) and the entire Volbeat camp the best of luck moving forward. I’m extremely proud of everything we accomplished together over the last 10 years.”
