Sammy Hagar Learns His Real Biological Surname on ‘Finding Your Roots’
Sammy Hagar is featured in the latest episode of the PBS series Finding Your Roots. One of the things the Red Rocker found during the experience is his real biological surname.
In the clip below, host Henry Louis Gates Jr. shows Hagar that his DNA doesn’t match any men with his last name. However, Gates Jr. says that it’s “100% certain” that his real biological surname is actually Belcher. A stunned Sammy simply says, “What a trip.”
Hagar/Belcher’s episode of Finding Your Roots aires tonight (Jan. 23) at 8 PM ET on PBS.
Dave’s Latest Comments About Sammy
It seems as though every year, there’s some wild story about Hagar and David Lee Roth. Literal weeks into 2024, and we already have that wild story.
As previously reported, Roth had some truly weird comments about Hagar he shared via his YouTube channel. As Diamond Dave is wont to do, he went on a lengthy stream of consciousness about Hagar. It involved the Red Rocker’s story of allegedly being abducted by aliens and his knack for talking about DLR in the press. Roth thinks Hagar can’t stop talking about him in interviews because he was “sex probed” during his alleged abduction.
Roth equates Hagar potentially being probed to jamming half a popsicle into a cassette tape player and removing said popsicle from the player, thus, forever altering it.
” … That tape player will never play the same again, no matter how carefully you try and fix those delicate little parts,” said DLR. “And it’ll get worse and it’ll seem like the singer that you used to [be] will stop making sense whatsoever, a lot like Sam.”
As for Hagar’s alleged alien abduction, he recalled that story in a September 2021 interview with Mystery Wire. When asked about his alien encounter claim, Hagar says the incident happened in the mid-’60s and staunchly says it “100% happened.”
