Des Rocs Brings the Dream Machine Tour to Philadelphia

Brooklyn rocker Des Rocs will return to Philadelphia this spring in support of his latest album Dream Machine.

Des Rocs is the moniker of bandleader Danny Rocco who, along with touring bandmates William Tully and Eric Mendelsohn, channels midcentury crooners like Elvis Presley and Roy Orbison while harnessing sleek, modern sounds a la Muse and the Killers, with a healthy dose of garage-rock riffs thrown in for good measure.

The tour announcement comes after the band’s run with Slipknot and Stone Stour frontman Corey Taylor was abruptly cancelled so that Taylor could tend to his mental health. The silver lining is: Taylor is now doing better, and we now get to see Des Rocs as a headliner (which, quite frankly, is how their sets are meant to be seen and heard) instead of a shorter opening spot.

Des Rocs will be live at the Foundry (above the Fillmore Philadelphia) on Saturday May 4th. Jigsaw Youth will kick off the show. Tickets go on sale this Friday (2/16) and Jacky Bam Bam is giving out tickets on his nighttime show this week. MMR VIPs have a bonus chance to win their way into the show by entering here.

If you’ve never seen this trio take over a stage, buckle in for a high-velocity experience. You may have already seen the band when they opened for the Rolling Stones a few summers ago at Lincoln Financial Field in South Philly. They were handpicked by the Stones, a tremendous honor and validation that Danny Rocco’s artistry will carry the rock n’ roll torch forward.

You may have also witnessed their virtual show hosted by Radio Sara during the COVID-19 pandemic. VR technology allowed the audience to switch between multiple camera angles as the band performed. Before their absolutely electric set, the band chatted with Sara about meeting the Rolling Stones and other musical heroes, Danny’s love for pizza, and his songwriting process. Every Rolling Stones Request from You-Call-It Friday Night

The Rolling Stones will return to Philadelphia next summer, and everyone at WMMR couldn’t be more excited to welcome them back to the Linc. Pierre Robert and Jacky Bam Bam are some of their absolute biggest fans in this city, so when it came time for You-Call-It Friday Night in the middle of our 13 Days of the Stones, we knew we had to pull out all the stops.

The trouble was, Bam Bam – who’s usually on air every weeknight – was on vacation that week. (How dare Mick not check in with our schedule before announcing a tour!) With the promise of hot coffee and the freedom to take as many Stones song requests as possible, we called upon Pierre – who’s usually at the helm from 10:30am to 3pm – to come back into the studio at 7pm on Friday. He, along with Sara, played over two hours of the Rolling Stones, and they were ALL based on YOUR favorites.

The request lines were ringing off the hook that night, and we thank you for sharing your memories of the band with us. The Rolling Stones’ show at Lincoln Financial Field is on Tuesday June 11th, 2024, and tickets are on sale now. Their new album, Hackney Diamonds, is also available now.
