Saluting David Crosby’s Birthday On Pierre’s Vinyl Cut
On August 14th 1941 Academy-award winning cinematographer Floyd Crosby and his wife Aliph welcomed their second child to the world in Los Angeles California. Not fully following in his father’s footsteps (minus a cameo in Steven Spielberg’s Hook) he did however find his footing in the entertainment business. Involved in numerous influential rock and roll groups he would’ve been 82 today. As such, we salute David Crosby’s birthday on vinyl!
What Record Do You Choose?
David Crosby certainly has quite the discography to select from. First gaining prominence with The Byrds, David Crosby is probably most know for the musical creations made in collaboration with Stephen Stills, Graham Nash and Neil Young. Today however we journey to their masterful sophomore record by the name of Deja Vu.
The selection we chose for the vinyl cut today showcases not only the wonderful musical talent of David Crosby but also the stellar whit and sense of purpose his music has. With the off-mic opening line from David of “I will now proceed to entangle this entire area” kicks off the counter-culture anthem of “Almost Cut My Hair”
We lost David on January 18th 2023 due to complications of COVID. But the art he has created will last the test of time. And no finer way to honor David Crosby’s birthday then to celebrate his phenomenal music here on WMMR!
