Make-A-Wish Celebrates Their Birthday On Air With 93.3 WMMR
April 29th is the birthday of Make-A-Wish and World Wish Day. It’s also WMMR’s birthday. Together we turned this birthday energy in a month long toy drive.
Make-A-Wish Philadelphia, Delaware & Susquehanna Valley grants life-changing wishes to children with critical illnesses. As part of the process, the organization keeps a Toy Closet for children to visit. These toys are given to wish kids and are a vital part of the wish process, providing them with excitement, anticipation and much-needed hope, strength, and joy. By providing a new toy, you are making a direct impact on wish kids in our region.
We encourage you to check out the Amazon WishList and become a WishMaker simply by purchasing a toy that goes directly to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

How did April 29th become the ceremonial day in Make-A-Wish history? It was on this day, 44 years ago, that a courageous young boy named Christopher, who, at seven years old, was bravely battling leukemia, wished to be a police officer. On April 29th, 1980, his community rallied together to make his wish a reality. Just three days after experiencing the joy of his wish coming true, Christopher passed away. However, his legacy endured, igniting a spark of inspiration in his mother, Linda, and six others who joined forces to establish Make-A-Wish. Little did they know that Christopher’s dream would blossom into a global movement, touching the lives of millions.
Today, in the United States alone, over 550,000 wishes have been granted.
