‘American Pie’: New ‘Fresh Take’ Film In the Works
American Pie is serving up another slice.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new film will be written by Sujata Day, who’s best known for her work on HBO’s Insecure and the 2020 film Definition Please.
It’s noted, “Plot details have yet to be revealed, but the story is based on [Day’s] original pitch and is being described as a fresh take.”
The American Pie franchise consists of nine films, with four of those films being considered the “original” series. Those four films are 1999’s American Pie, 2001’s American Pie 2, 2003’s American Wedding and 2012’s American Reunion. The other five films were released under the American Pie Presents moniker and were all direct-to-DVD titles.
A release date for the new film is not yet known.
