Dave Grohl Puts in Another Marathon BBQ Session for Homeless Shelter
Dave Grohl is at it again putting in long hours in order to help prepare food for the homeless.
Last week, Grohl brought his smoker to The Hope Mission, a homeless shelter in Los Angeles, where he cooked for 450 unhoused people and 50 staff members. This time around, he and some BBQ helpers made thousands of meals for Feed the Streets LA (FTS LA.) The non-profit describes itself as “a community-based mutual aid organization that collects donated food, hygiene products, clothing, and educational items for hand-to-hand distribution.”
According to FTS LA’s Instagram post below, Grohl contacted the organization personally and wanted to help make and distribute meals. They wrote, “He spent 18 hours straight smoking brisket, ribs and pork—with a cooking crew. They stayed up all night and into the sunrise.”
Even though Grohl and co. were tired, they still stuck around to pack up, transport and distribute all the food. FTS LA says Grohl will be working with them again soon to help serve other unhoused people in other neighborhoods in Los Angeles.
“If that ain’t a hero, we don’t know wtf is,” FTS LA wrote at the end of their Instagram post. Honestly, we have to agree.
