Flashback: Weezer Play MMR’s Opening Night Of The Met + Rivers’ Balcony Serenade
During a big block of Weezer songs, Pierre Robert recalled seeing the band during the the opening week of shows at The Met Philadelphia. Bob Dylan was the very first performer, on December 4, 2018. Weezer followed on December 12th.
The whole night was epic. Largely in part because it was the first time we were all seeing this magnificent venue. Then, mid show, Rivers rode a razor scooter off stage and magically reemerged on the balcony to perform “Island In The Sun.” It just happened to be the balcony right below where Pierre and Marisa were sitting, they caught the whole moment on MMR’s opening night of The Met.
Very first balcony serenade at (assuming Bob Dylan didn’t make his way up there?!):
This night was also the very first time that Weezer performed the song “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” live. Not just once though, they performed the song twice in a row. Full setlist below.
