Unlocking the Delicious Secret: The Correct Way To Pronounce Ellio’s Pizza
When it comes to pizza, some debates can get quite heated. Thin crust or deep-dish. Pineapple as a topping or an abomination. And of course, how to pronounce the name of your favorite pie.
Today, we’re tackling a local pronunciation mystery: Ellio’s Pizza. If you’ve been saying it with an “I,” you might want to rethink your pronunciation strategy!
Ellio’s, that iconic rectangular frozen pizza that has been a go-to comfort food for many, is pronounced as “Ell-ee-oh’s,” with an “E” sound, not “Ill-e-oh’s.”
So, how did this common mispronunciation come to be? Maybe it’s because “Ellio’s” with an “I” just rolls off the tongue more naturally for some. Or perhaps it’s because we tend to associate it with words like “delicious” and “irresistible,” both of which contain the “I” sound. But make no mistake; the correct pronunciation is “Ell-ee-oh’s.”
Still in doubt? Well, there’s a handy way to settle this once and for all. Back in 1992, the Philadelphia Flyers Crazy Eights Line recorded a commercial for the frozen delicacy. In the spot The Legion of Doom prequel, made up of Mark Recchi (#8), Eric Lindros (#88) and Brent Fedyk (#18), are looking for a post game snack. Conveniently they have a toaster oven and frozen pizza in the locker room. Lindros gleefully shows off his “cooking” skills while Bobby Clarke waits in the wings.
Lets let these early ’90s Flyers settle the debate once and for all:
In the end, the pronunciation is a minor detail. Whether you enjoy your square slices with classic pepperoni or a variety of other toppings, just be sure to savor every slice. Now you have the satisfaction of knowing you’re pronouncing it just the way it was meant to be: “Ell-ee-oh’s.”

Phillies Clinch Playoff Berth! See The Amazing Celebration
The Phillies clinched playoff berth and they did it in walk-off fashion! Nothing better than getting to celebrate at your home ballpark. Bottom of the tenth inning, Johan Rojas up to the plate, singled up the middle to win the game.
The game was tied up at zero until Brandon Marsh decided to take matters into his own hands and hit a solo home run to right-center field. What a legend! But it really was the rookie, Rojas, that got the fans excited.
We celebrated big time because the Phils are going BACK to the postseason!
Phillies Walk Off Win Video
Pretty epic to lock your spot into the 2023 Postseason with a walk-off at home of all places. Pretty cool. The Postseason starts on Tuesday, October 3rd, and the Phillies will be at home.
Phillies Playoff Schedule
The Major League Baseball playoffs kick off with the Wild Card round on Tuesday, October 3rd. The Philadelphia Phillies have locked in the fourth seed in the playoffs (the top Wild Card spot) and will take on the fifth seed. They could end up playing any team including the Chicago Cubs, Miami Marlins (division rival), or the Cincinnati Reds but most likely the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Both the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Atlanta Braves have secured byes in the first round of the National League side of the bracket. The Braves will play the winner of the fourth and fifth-seeded game and the Dodgers will play the winner of the Brewers and sixth-seed matchup.

Phillies Home Games
The Phillies will host the Wild Card round (which is the best of three) and all the games will be at home, which is incredible. Last year, they didn’t have the same advantage and still made it to the World Series! Insane. Love this team.
