Samuel L. Jackson Revisits His ‘Pulp Fiction’ Character
Samuel L. Jackson is a legendary actor. One of his most iconic roles is Jules Winnfield in 1994’s Pulp Fiction. In his iconic monologue, Jules interrogates a drug dealer and recites his favorite passage from the bible: Ezekiel 25:17. Jimmy Kimmel reminded Jackson during his Wednesday night (January 31) appearance that the film turns 30 this year. Asking him if there’s an event planned, Jackson demurely responds, “No.”
Kimmel was worried that was the case, so he brought a case of his own to Jackson’s attention. Teasing a “mini-reunion,” Kimmel is presented with a locked black suitcase, having to fish a key out of Guillermo’s mouth. As soon as Jackson opens up the suitcase, a golden glow shines across his face. With a mock surprise, he yells, “Oh my god!” Bowing his head into the suitcase, Jackson removes his hat and presents a jheri curl wig to the screaming audience. Standing up and posing for a moment, Jackson delivers his iconic Ezekiel monologue to the audience perfectly. On Thursday, Jackson revealed the behind-the-scenes rehearsal of recalling the iconic speech. Hilariously, he mumbles and slurs over the words. Reassuring the people laughing around him after his stumble, he declares, “I can do all that,” with a smile. “I can do that part.”

Elsewhere in his appearance on the late show, Jackson and Kimmel discussed the voice actors who dub Jackson’s characters in other languages. Jackson revealed he knows five of them after working together so often when he was first booming onto the acting scene. “And they liked me!” Jackson excitedly said of the men he worked with.
Jackson will next be seen in Argylle, out in theaters Friday, February 2. Dua Lipa, Henry Cavill, Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, John Cena, Ariana DeBose, Bryan Cranston, and Catherine O’Hara round out the all-star cast. The action-thriller follows reclusive author Elly Conway (Howard), who writes best-selling espionage novels about a secret agent named Argylle (Cavill) who’s on a mission to unravel a global spy syndicate. However, when the plots of her books start to mirror the covert actions of a real-life spy organization, the line between fiction and reality begins to blur.
