Ghost Surprise Release New Song ‘The Future is a Foreign Land’
Followers of the church of Ghost, rejoice! The mysterious and theatrical Swedes have released a new song today (6/21) titled “The Future is a Foreign Land.”
In keeping with Ghost legend, a press release from Loma Vista explains that the song has been pulled from their “timeless 1969 sessions featuring Papa Nihil fronting an early incarnation of the band.” (In actuality, the band formed in 2006, but who’s counting?) The twang of the guitar and vintage sound of organ make this song a fitting b-side to their viral TikTok hit “Mary on a Cross.” Listen to it below.

It’s included in the soundtrack of the band’s concert film that’s currently in theaters. RITE HERE RITE NOW: The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack will be released on July 26th. Pre-orders for multiple formats, including a double vinyl LP, are now open and include “The Future is a Foreign Land” plus a live version of “Absolution.” The press release notes that it was “captured at the now-legendary sold-out two-night stand at the Forum where the concert footage featured in the film was shot.”
RITE HERE RITE NOW is screening through this weekend only. Get a full list of theaters here and see where you can experience the film in the Philadelphia area below.
