All the Philly References in the new Shazam Trailer Listed
Over the weekend, the long awaited follow up trailer to Zachary Levi’s 2019 superhero flick dropped at Comic Con 2022.
The series in a nutshell follows a 14 year old Philadelphia foster child who discovers his super human powers and shares them with his foster siblings – his family. If you haven’t watched the original go do it now, it’s great.
Although it’s set in Philly, most of the filming happened out of town. But they do a good job incorporating Philly landmarks in the film. For example, the original movie had the big fight scene on the rooftop of Centre Square with the entire skyline in the background including the PSFS sign, Pyramid Club, Billy Penn, and the WMMR radio tower on top of Liberty One.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods is equally as exciting. The trailer starts off with our hero soaring through the skyline at sunrise. A superhero meet up on the Ben Franklin Bridge at rush hour. A bunch of skyline shots. A knockoff Tastykake truck that reads “Katritos Pretzels”. And, the money shot: Citizens Bank Park getting destroyed by a monster.
Plus the footage Zack Snyder’s Justice League and Aquaman, and new villains, the Daughters of Atlas Helen Mirren, Lucy Liu, and Rachel Zegler. Take a look for yourself:
