Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters Backstage with Pierre [FLASHBACK]
Foo Fighters announced the Everything or Nothing At All tour earlier this week, and tickets went on sale today (10/6). They’ll stop at Hersheypark Stadium on Tuesday, July 23rd, bringing along The Hives and Amyl and The Sniffers.
We’re stoked to welcome the Foos back the Philly area, and to officially welcome drummer Josh Freese to the family. WMMR has a long history with the band, as you can see in the photo gallery below, and we’ve spoken with Dave Grohl a few times over the years. Today we’re taking you back to a special moment in the MMaRchives when Pierre Robert sat down with Dave backstage at the Pavilion in Camden.
The band was there for a show on July 7th, 2018. WMMR was in the midst of celebrating the station’s 50th birthday, and this concert was a huge highlight in a year full of festivities. Pierre’s conversation with Dave was the cherry on top. Not only that, but Dave, along rest of the band, were gracious enough to hang with the MMR staff for a pre-show backstage BBQ.
The show itself was incredible. The Foos played a 3-hour set, and Dave was nice enough to give MMR a happy birthday shout from the stage, which blew our minds! See concert shots from that night here.
You can stream Pierre Robert’s interview with Dave Grohl that day below. They talked about the meaning behind the single “The Sky Is A Neighborhood,” being inspired by live music as a kid, pre-show rituals, Rehoboth Beach, the latest in BBQ technology, and much more.
