On This Day: P.O.D. at the Electric Factory
On this day, May 29th in 2004, Philadelphia was hosting a pretty epic show at the Electric Factory, and we’ll be welcoming this band back to the area in just a few months…
P.O.D. headlined the venue (now known as the Franklin Music Hall) that night. They were in the middle of their Payable On Death tour, a reference to the band’s name and to their fifth album that they had released the year prior. At this point, the band were riding high on their previous LP Satellites, which produced massive hits like “Alive” and “Youth of the Nation”. Their follow-up marked a shift from rap rock to a more melodic metal sound for the band. There were also some moves in the band’s lineup at the time, with Jason Truby stepping in for guitarist Marcos Curiel, who would return to the group a few years later. Singles from Payable On Death include “Will You” and “Change the World.”
Listen to Brent Porche today from 3-7pm on WMMR for an on-air salute to this Philly concert anniversary.
See P.O.D. Live at MMRBQ 2024
Fast forward two decades, and we’re gearing up to hear all these hits live when P.O.D. come to the MMRBQ on Saturday, September 21st. They’ll be rounding out the general admission portion of the festival at Freedom mortgage Pavilion in Camden, New Jersey. Per ‘RBQ tradition, the first half of the day is ALL GA, so even if you have a lawn ticket, the pavilion is first come, first serve. This means that if you get there early enough, you get right up to the barricade to see P.O.D.
It’ll be a full day of rock: we’ve also got The Offspring, Halestorm, Nothing More, The Warning, Silvertide, Sleep Theory and Jersey Calling on board, plus the Preston & Steve Side Stage with Live Band Karaoke. Grab your tickets now and join the party!
