Wawa has recruited the cast of Jersey Shore to promote their new menu item. We’re having trouble fully grasping this situation.

The Delco based company can do no wrong in our eyes. But this is a making us a little… uncomfortable. And it’s completely territorially and totally selfish.

In the new commercial, Vinny Guadagnino, DJ Pauly D, and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino are wandering through a Wawa store like any of us would. Pauly glances up at the screens above the deli counter and notices pizza on the menu.

He yells over to Vinny who is at the Iced Tea section of the refrigerator case. “Wawa has pizza,” is tossed back and forth as both a statement and a question between the MTV stars. Across the store, The Situation pours a cup of coffee. He gets the “pizza” call, and all three converge to grab a slice of delicious looking pie.

At the very end of the ad, the GTL-loving crew hop into a bright blue 1958 Edsel Corsair. It’s at this moment when we realize that they were at the famous Doo-Wop-themed Wawa in Wildwood.

Hold up. That’s our Wawa!

A quick google search shows that there is a Wawa on Rt 37 in Tom’s River, a nine minute drive from their house at house in Seaside Heights. That’s their Wawa.

Sorry to turn into the Sharks and the Jets here, but we’ve spent the last decade separating ourselves from the Jersey Shore debacle. Explaining to outsiders that we go to the Jersey shore… but not that Jersey shore has become second nature. So to have these guys representing our favorite convenience store, at our favorite shore point is an ego check.

On the other hand, maybe this is a bonding moment? We’ve never really found common ground with Vinny Guadagnino, Pauly D, and The Situation. Maybe Wawa pizza will bring us all together to live in harmony. It is the first rule of Wawa, be nice! So here we are, extending an olive branch to the cast of the Jersey Shore.

Wawa Pizzas are available now, everyday after 4pm. The menu options include plain, peperoni, sausage, mushroom, veggie, and supreme. Try one today!
