INTERVIEW: 25 Minutes with Geddy Lee
“No better feeling than a Big Low Open E note Resonating through a 20,000 seat venue combined with a power cord; that is one of the greatest feelings a Rock N’ Roller can create.”
If that makes no sense to you; it means when you Slap Da Bass, the crowd goes wild. No one better to write the “Big Beautiful Book of Bass” then The 96th Greatest Canadian of All time, Geddy Lee, who slaps the Bass like no one else.
Geddy will be here, in Philly, signing copies of his new book Big Beautiful Book of Bass on July 19th at Barnes & Noble (1805 Walnut St). During an interview with The Preston & Steve Show, we learned that this project began 3 years ago when the Rock & Roll HOF’er received an offer for a 1953 fender precision bass, and he realized he didn’t know the history of the instrument he so famously plays. Geddy had so much fun learning about legacy that he thought, “I might as well put together a list of awesome basses.” What started as 1 bass turned into 250. There was a hole in the world for a big beautiful book of bass, so Geddy filled it.

The guys talk everything bass, Geddy’s first time being an interviewer, “The Yips”, the bass that got away, and the one he has yet to find – music geeks, here’s your chance to help him out. Preston Elliot, the biggest RUSH fan we know even dropped a little bass knowledge that blew his hero’s mind!
Throughout the tour so far Geddy has found the whole book signing experience “so lovely,” and enjoys seeing how appreciative the fans are of being able to spend 2 minutes sharing their RUSH stories. There may have been a uncomfortable moments, but no promised him no one would be too odd in the City of Brotherly Love (don’t let us down, Philly!)
