This Day in WMMR History: Preston Plays on Stage with Steel Panther
It was a chilly night on South Street, January 5, 2012. Steel Panther was rocking the TLA… when suddenly the band stopped. They were hypnotized by the sick air drumming skills of one particular guy in the crowd. They refused to continue playing without him behind the kit. That man was Preston Elliot.
Okay, that’s not really how it went down, but wouldn’t that be cool?
Here’s what happened; Preston was chatting with the band before they hit the stage when the drummer, Stix Zadina, suggested he sit in for a song. Preston was shocked, he didn’t know what to say! He was flattered, but also had not learned any of the band’s songs. “No problem”, Stix said, “we’ll play ‘You Really Got Me’ .” “OKAY!” Preston eagerly agreed, “I know that one!”.
Sit back and relive what Preston describes as “one of the most fun night’s of my life” –
After that epic performance, Preston earned the nickname, Tommy Tom Tom Thompson, by the band.
Here are a few more shots from that night and more MMR + Steel Panther moments:
We gotta get those guys back in studio again SOON!
