Remembering Our Marvelous Morning with Cindy Williams
We were all saddened to hear the news of Cindy Williams’ passing. She is a comedy icon and we were lucky enough to have her in studio on two separate occasions.
It was her second visit where were really learned a lot about Cindy. She came by The Preston & Steve Show in April 2022, to promote her one-woman-show at The Bucks County Playhouse.
Cindy’s energy was electric and genuine. And her stories were one of a kind. Almost unbelievable until you put into perspective the career that she had.
There was the one about studying acting with with Sally Fields. The two attended high school together in Birmingham, and Sally was jealous of how funny Cindy was on stage.
Then there was the punch seen ’round the world. In her Happy Days debut, Cindy clocked Ron Howard right in the face. She told us that to this day, Ron still brings up that memory “because he’s so proud of” it.
She told us being on the set of American Graffiti, and the young director, George Lucas, pitched his next movie to the cast. “It’s about teenagers in outer space, saving the galaxy.” Her initial thought was, “that’ll never happen!”
The best story is from very early in her career, when she was a cocktail waitress on the Sunset Strip. Jim Morrison sat down in her section pulled a wild prank.
